International Support Partnerships

The following partnerships combine and deliver expertise from bilateral and multilateral organisations involved in support for the preparation, implementation, MRV, and financing of Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMAs) in developing countries.

Please visit their sites for more information on capacity-building events, publications and more. Also note that the secretariat does not endorse or recommend any particular method or source of support over another.

The International Partnership on NAMAs:

The international partnership on NAMAs has been created to enhance collaboration and complementarity of the activities of the different organizations to accelerate support to developing countries in preparation and implementation of their NAMAs.

International Partnership on Mitigation and MRV:

In the framework of the Petersburg Climate Dialogue in May 2010 in Bonn/Germany, South Africa, South Korea and Germany launched the International Partnership on Mitigation and MRV. The overall aim of the Partnership is to support a practical exchange on mitigation-related activities and MRV between developing and developed countries in order to help close the global ambition gap.

The Low Emissions Development Strategies (LEDS) Global Partnership:

The Low Emissions Development Strategies (LEDS) Global Partnership was founded to advance climate-resilient low emission development through coordination, information exchange, and cooperation among programs and countries working to advance low emissions growth.

Partnership for Market Readiness:

The Partnership for Market Readiness (PMR) is a forum for collective innovation and action and a fund to support capacity building to scale up climate change mitigation.

The UNFCCC secretariat also provides technical assistance to NAMA stakeholders through the following resources:

Capacity Building Workshops on NAMAs

The COP at its 18th session in Doha requested the secretariat, in collaboration with intergovernmental organizations as well as relevant bodies under the Convention, to organize regional technical workshops to build capacity in the preparation, submission and implementation of NAMAs as well as formulation of low emission development strategies.

The NAMA Registry

The UNFCCC launched an online registry at the end of 2013 to facilitate matching of international resources with Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMAs) in developing countries. The registry is housed within the secretariat and managed by the NAMA and Registry unit of the non-Annex I support sub-programme of the Mitigation, Data, and Analysis Program of the secretariat.
